Doylestown’s largest festival of the year, brought to you by the Doylestown Business and Community Alliance and The Thompson Organization, is scheduled for Saturday (10am-5pm) and Sunday (11am-5pm), September 6th and 7th. Like previous years, this festival offers wonderful artisans presenting their work for sale (crafts, photography, furniture, jewelry and more) plus great entertainment to fill the town’s streets with beautiful tunes. The festival will take place in the center of town on State and Main Streets along with West Oakland and Hamilton Streets. The first performer we are profiling in Jack Wilkins. Here is his partial bio:
Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been a part of the International jazz scene for more than four decades. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, and Buddy Rich among many others. A native of Brooklyn, Jack began playing guitar at age thirteen. His mentors included Johnny Smith, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Bill Evans, Clifford Brown and Freddie Hubbard.

Wow! The Folk Festival is a great time. Just found this article from Mcall.com:
Both days, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine, families will be able to see craftsmen at work producing the necessities of earlier life, rather than just reading about the tasks people had to do.
There will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, glassblowing, open-hearth cooking, sheep shearing, Colonial brewing, furniture making, painting, spinning, weaving, pewter casting, broom making and paper cutting (scherenschnitte), as well as making leather goods and hand-sewn rugs.
Find the rest of the article here.
However, with all the fun planned, have you thought about lodging? Come check us out for a unique B & B experience. We are just a brief walf from the festival. Make your reservations today.
