It’s hot. It’s sticky outside. It is July, after all, so we can pretty much expect the uncomfortable feeling that comes with summer weather. But it’s a great excuse to cool off with some frozen treats – and what better way to celebrate National Ice Cream Month? Downtown Doylestown has lots of establishments that serve up frozen yogurt, ice cream or water ice – many within walking distance of HH. We’ve put together a sampling to help you get started.
Just up the street is HandleBar, a new frozen yogurt emporium at 12 S. Main St. Visit the shops at Main Street Marketplace, 22 S. Main St., and you’ll find a stand selling Goodnoe Farm ice cream fresh from Newtown.
Turn either way on State Street and you’ve got more options. Sweet Pea Ice Cream shares space with A Taste of Philly at 18 W. State St., offering some tasty, homemade ice cream and frozen treats. Head the opposite direction and you can find wonderful Italian gelato at Nonno’s Italian Coffee Parlor, 6 E. State St. Off of State Street on Market way, you’ll find Nuts Plus, an old-fashioned candy shop that sells locally-made Tanner Brothers’ ice cream. Sweet Spot at North Main and Court streets has a frozen yogurt bar and frozen drinks. And let’s not forget Annie’s Water Ice just down the hill from the train station at 187 S. Clinton St.
Whew! Now we’re hungry. Anybody want to grab a cone?
