The first performer we are profiling in Jack Wilkins. Here is his partial bio:
Guitarist Jack Wilkins has been a part of the International jazz scene for more than four decades. His flawless technique and imaginative chordal approach have inspired collaborations with Chet Baker, Sarah Vaughan, Bob Brookmeyer, and Buddy Rich among many others. A native of Brooklyn, Jack began playing guitar at age thirteen. His mentors included Johnny Smith, Django Reinhardt, Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Bill Evans, Clifford Brown and Freddie Hubbard.

Wow! The Folk Festival is a great time. Just found this article from Mcall.com:
Both days, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. rain or shine, families will be able to see craftsmen at work producing the necessities of earlier life, rather than just reading about the tasks people had to do.
There will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, glassblowing, open-hearth cooking, sheep shearing, Colonial brewing, furniture making, painting, spinning, weaving, pewter casting, broom making and paper cutting (scherenschnitte), as well as making leather goods and hand-sewn rugs.
Find the rest of the article here.
However, with all the fun planned, have you thought about lodging? Come check us out for a unique B & B experience. We are just a brief walf from the festival. Make your reservations today.
Have a fun spring weekend! Come to Doylestown for the Annual Folk Festival and sleep over at the Hargrave House Bed and Breakfast just about a block away. This is a great event sponsored by the Mercer Museum. The grounds of the museum are transformed into an historical festival on Mother’s Day Weekend, May 9 & 10. Crafters come from far and wide to demonstrate crafts like blacksmithing, leather working, spinning, weaving, open-hearth cooking and colonial brewing. Music, entertainment, picnic foods and tours of the towing Mercer Museum castle complete a festive weekend.
Stay at Hargrave House both Friday and Saturday nights to enjoy both days of the Festival as well as downtown Doylestown. It is one of the “Dozen Distinctive Destinations” named by the National Trust for Historical Preservation. We’re just steps away from dining, shopping, County Theater, bookshops and only 2 blocks from the train and bus station (Service via SEPTA R5 to Philadelphia and via Transbridge Lines bus to New York City – about two hours away). If you drive, we have private on-site guest parking. Ask for our special Folk Fest rates! We also have Folk Fest Ticket discounts.
