If you haven’t already done so, mark your calendars for Sept. 10 and 11. That’s when the Doylestown Arts Festival makes the town its own for the weekend.
You can look forward to music throughout the two days – everything from folk to rock, pop, and jazz. Five stages will be erected throughout the downtown area, so at any given moment, you will likely hear something of interest to your musical tastes.
And then there are the 160 juried artists featured, such as Kristen Leonard, of Doylestown, creator of the popular Charley Girl wraparound skirts. Her creations are on Etsy, and Heather Bleu Home carries them locally. Aside from wearable art, you’ll see some lovely pieces you can hang on your walls, such as the fine art photography of Donald Schoenleber, also of Doylestown. He’s got some gorgeous landscapes, as well as abstract pieces and theme compositions. You can also find works in metal, glass, pottery, jewelry and loads more, from artists as near as your Doylestown neighbor and as far away as Massachusetts and North Carolina.
Did we mention the interactive demonstrations? Always a treat! Try your hand at silk scarf painting. Have your photo taken using the old-fashioned method of wetplate photography. Yes, even your pup can be involved in the action by getting some temporary doggie tattoos. Woof!
While much of downtown is closed to traffic, there is limited on-street parking, just pay attention to signs. Shuttle service will also be in effect from various locations.
