Continuing to Shop Small as We Head Toward the Holidays

As we write this, it’s Cyber Monday – one of the biggest online shopping days. But, on the heels of Small Business Saturday, let’s continue to keep it small, and visit some of the fine shops that make Doylestown … well, Doylestown.

Pop in at Olive Oil Etcetera and sample some of their wonderful products (we’re partial to the juicy pineapple balsamic vinegar.) They’ve got a wide selection of olive oil, specialty foods and body and bath goods, too.

Sweet Blossoms sells some of the prettiest lingerie around. They’ve got an assortment of soft jammies and robes as well. Best of all, they offer full-service bra fittings, keeping notes for their repeat customers on which brands work best for each individual.

We haven’t been there yet, but Traditions Yarn Shop just opened for business down the street from us. A peek into their window shows all sorts of colorful yarns on display. No worries if you don’t know a thing about stitches – they’ve got classes for all ranges of knitters.

You’ll get quality retro/vintage-inspired clothing for the whole family at Monkey’s Uncle. They’ve got a huge line of athletic and sports team merchandise – from tees to hats and anything in between.

For a quick sugar fix, head on over to Nuts Plus Sweets & Treats. A fixture in town for more than 30 years, the candy store offers some sugary delights for those with a nostalgic bent: licorice pipes, candy buttons, and Teaberry gum, to name a few. You can also purchase premium nuts and chocolates, or grab a lick of ice cream from their cold case.

We haven’t even scratched the surface of the many special shops that call Doylestown home. That’s why a visit to our wonderful town is in order, don’t you think? Right now – with holiday-themed store windows on display – is an especially pretty time to make the trip. See you around town!
